Start with the next step
Think about what changes after the ceremony. If you are moving, you need things for a new home. If you are starting a job, you may need clothes or a bag for work. If you are continuing your studies, you may need books or a better desk.
Add the gifts that remove a small cost or a small problem from that change.
Build a first-home kit
- Kitchen: a pan, a knife, a chopping board, plates, a kettle, tea towels.
- Bedroom: bedding in the right size, pillows, hangers, a laundry basket.
- Bathroom: towels, a bath mat, a shower caddy, a small bin.
- Desk: a lamp, a notebook, a cable tidy, a comfortable chair if the budget allows.
- First week: a tool kit, spare bulbs, cleaning supplies, an extension lead.
Add tech and travel with the model number
Headphones, a laptop stand, a suitcase and a travel adapter are common graduation gifts. Add the exact model or the size, so a buyer does not have to guess. "Carry-on case, 55 cm, navy" is easier to buy than "a suitcase".
A pasted link can fill in the name, photo, price and currency for supported shops. For other shops, the link still saves and you type the details.
Ask for money without a payment page
Some graduates want money more than things. SortGift does not collect or send money. Add a note-only gift such as "Contribution to a laptop" and say in your message how people can send it.
Do not put account details in a public list. The share link is unlisted, but anyone with the link can read it.
Share it with the people who ask
Send the link when someone asks what you want, or a couple of weeks before a party. One sentence is enough: "Here is my list if you would like to give something. Coming is enough."
Keep the magic link private. It opens the editor and can change the list.
Keep it short and current
Ten to fifteen gifts is plenty. Remove what you no longer need and add what you find later. The share link stays the same.
